Required - Casual British Sign Language Tutor – iBSL Level 6
Hourly Rates: £35.00 per hour
Evenings and Weekends depending on course - Required from early 2018
We are a hearing impaired secondary school in South London who have a facility to teach sign language. We are looking for British Sign Language Tutors who can teach adult students the iBSL Level 6 curriculum as requested by Deaf First. The successful candidates will be required to work the evenings and Saturdays depending on course dates. We need individuals who have the ability to engage the student in the process of learning and to encourage confidence. We are looking for casual notetakers who are qualified or have a willingness to train. Ideally the person should be qualified to degree level and have the ability to take write notes in a clear and legible way on behalf of a deaf student.

Most of our deaf students prefer to have electronic notetakers, so it would be an advantage if you can use a laptop and type at a good speed. You will need to have a high level of English and a Maths (grade C or above). Experience of work in the FE sector is desirable.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants to work with and engage students aged 11 to 19 who are deaf or have communication needs to access the curriculum in the school. We need Teaching Assistants who can support a child-centred multi-modal language and communication approach which incorporates British Sign Language, English and Signed Supported English.

Interpreter/Translator - English/Sign Language (Term Time Only)

We are looking for interpreters who can carry out translation work as requested by Deaf First. The successful candidates will also be required to work the occasional evening. We need individuals who have the ability to accurately voice over from Sign Language to English and translate BSL/Sign Language to English. The ability to proof read written English and produce video clips for deaf staff and pupils would be an added advantage.
